Zebra Medical Vision Partners with Indian Hospitals for AI-Based Diagnostic Devices

Zebra Medical Vision, an Israeli company specializing in artificial intelligence (AI) for medical imaging, has established significant partnerships with Indian healthcare organizations to enhance diagnostic accuracy and accessibility across the country.

Key Collaborations:

  1. Apollo Hospitals Group:
    • In March 2019, Zebra Medical Vision partnered with HealthNet Global (HNG), a subsidiary of Apollo Hospitals Group, to validate and deploy AI-based screening tools across India. This collaboration focuses on developing AI algorithms for detecting conditions such as brain bleeds, pneumothorax, breast cancer, and osteoporosis. A primary objective is to create an AI-based chest X-ray interpretation tool to improve early detection of tuberculosis (TB), especially in rural areas where traditional diagnostic resources are limited.
  2. Telerad Tech:
    • In July 2017, Zebra Medical Vision teamed up with Telerad Tech, the technology arm of India’s Teleradiology Solutions (TRS), to integrate its AI analytics engine with Telerad Tech’s cloud-based PACS/RIS platform, RADSpa. This integration aims to enhance medical imaging diagnosis across more than 20 countries, including India, by providing automated analysis for conditions like liver, lung, bone, and cardiovascular diseases, as well as breast cancer and intracranial bleeding.
  3. Medsynaptic Pvt Ltd:
    • In September 2019, Zebra Medical Vision partnered with Medsynaptic, a Pune-based healthcare IT company, to incorporate its AI1 solution into Medsynaptic’s platforms. This collaboration facilitates the deployment of AI-driven diagnostic tools within India’s Apollo Hospitals network, which serves over 40 million patients, thereby enhancing the efficiency and accuracy of radiology services.

Impact on Indian Healthcare:

These partnerships aim to bridge the gap between the growing demand for radiology services and the limited availability of radiologists in India. By integrating AI-based diagnostic tools, healthcare providers can achieve faster and more accurate interpretations of medical images, leading to timely and effective patient care. The focus on diseases like tuberculosis addresses critical public health challenges, particularly in underserved rural regions.

Through these collaborations, Zebra Medical Vision contributes to the advancement of AI-driven diagnostics in India, enhancing the quality and accessibility of healthcare services across the nation.
